INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO UNINSTALL OLD CITRIX RECEIVER ON YOUR HOME COMPUTER Follow the steps below to uninstall an old version of Citrix Receiver on your home computer for Windows. Once uninstalled, you will be able to install the new Citrix Receiver. Open Control Panel Programs and Features or Add remove programs. Click Start Menu Click. May 08, 2018 Citrix Receiver is probably the most well-known product from Citrix as all users have to install it on their personal devices. Receiver is not new to being renamed as it had many previous names. Originally named ICA Plugin, then Citrix Online Plugin or Offline Plugin, Citrix officially transitioned to the name “Receiver” in 2009. Just reporting on a small issue I had with a machine and brand new Citrix Receiver 4.4 install. Clicking on a published application or desktop resulted in nothing happening. Seemed like the launch.ica file just wasn’t calling Citrix Receiver properly to start the connecting process. Citrix Receiver is probably the most well-known product from Citrix as all users have to install it on their personal devices. Receiver is not new to being renamed as it had many previous names. If you are an organization using Chocolatey, we want your experience to be fully reliable. Due to the nature of this publicly offered repository, reliability cannot be guaranteed. Packages offered here are subject to distribution rights, which means they may need to reach out further to the internet to the official locations to download files at runtime.
Fortunately, distribution rights do not apply for internal use. With any edition of Chocolatey (including the free open source edition), you can host your own packages and cache or internalize existing community packages.

Objective
Non-admin users must contact their company’s Help Desk/IT support team and can refer to CTX297149 for more information.
To have the Citrix Receiver silently remove application shortcuts from their Citrix Receiver that the user longer has access to.
Or
To have the Citrix Receiver silently remove application shortcuts from their Citrix Receiver that are no longer available in XenApp/XenDesktop
NOTE: Normally the user is notified from their taskbar with a Balloon pop-up type message and they have to manually click on it to remove the application shortcut from their Citrix receiver as seen in the screenshot below.
Instructions
Install Citrix receiver version 4.2.100 or later that includes fix LC2157This is listed in the fixed issues article for the Citrix Receiver 4.x

Along with the updated Citrix receiver you may need to implement the following registry keys to fully disable these notifications on the client machines:

The following keys are optional depends on your environment and preferences if you want the Citrix Receiver to always cleanup shortcuts on user logoff or if the Citrix Receiver is closed:

The location of where these registry keys need to be set depend on if the Citrix Receiver was installed on a 32-bit machine or 64-bit machine.
If Citrix Receiver is installed on a 32-bit machine: (locations in order of preference)

NOTE: If you have a previous version of the Citrix receiver it is always recommended to uninstall the previous version , then run the Citrix Receiver Cleanup Utility to remove anything left behind.
Reboot the workstation then install the newest version of the Citrix receiver this ensures a clean install of the newest version.
